Week 16 Game of the Week & Picks

A number of teams will be fighting for their playoff lives this week in the NFL. Dallas, Pittsburg, Cinci all have big games this week.  The Giants play the Ravens at Baltimore and the outcome of this game will be huge no matter which team wins. This is a big game for New York and Baltimore, to keep it 100 we have seen what these teams bring in the post season. To be honest if Dallas or Baltimore and even the NY football Giants don’t make it I won’t miss them in the Post season. The Game everyone should be watching this Sunday is the Seattle Seahawks vs. The 49ers and this is my game of the week.

                Game of the Week

The Seahawks have been impressive on paper the last two weeks. Back to Back 50 point scoring efforts and Marshawn Lynch back in BEAST MODE. This year he has a running mate in Russell Wilson that can also light it up on the Seattle offense. The Seahawks have a rough tough NFC D that has emerged as one of the Top Defenses in the NFL. With all that being said have they really beat anybody that shows that they are deserving of a playoff spot? I know I know they beat the Chicago Bears. The Bears are a team headed nowhere this post season and the Coach has one foot out the door. Losing to Miami in week 12 certainly does not say they deserve a spot. Stealing a game from Aaron Rogers and the Green bay Packers doesn’t tell me they deserve a spot and beating up on Arizona 58-0 and Buffalo 50-17 does not impress me. This week they finally get to play a team that will challenge them in all aspect of football. That team is the San Francisco 49ers led by another young stud in Colin Kaepernick. The Seahawks and the 49ers are the exact same team when you look at them closely. San Fran is just a much better Offense now with Kaepernick at the Helm and that will be the difference in this game. Two great ground games will be on display with Gore vs. Lynch. Both Defenses are capable of pitching a shutout on the opposing O and the game will be hard hitting I guarantee that. To keep it 100 the fact of the matter is the Seahawks are an improved football team, but are not ready to be a dominate ball club and take the next step to become an elite team and will lose this game to the 49ers. This game will have a playoff feel to it and is a good dress rehersal for Kaepernick and the 9ers and strong test for Willson and the Seahawks. San Fran will walk into Seattle and win this football game with a business as usual attitude it will be close I will say that. The score will be

23-20 49ers win

                                                                                                Week 16 Picks

Saints 28 Cowboys 14

Packers 35 Titans 7

Colts 21 Chiefs 10

Giants 21 Ravens 28

Washington 28 Philly 7

Stealers 17 Cinci 14 OT

                                                                                                Upset Pick

Vikings 35 Huston 28

The Vikings will have to much AP in this game than the Texans can handle. The kind of steak that Peterson is on is one of destiny. The Texans will be in this game but the special moments that AP seems to have week in and week out to close this season will prove to be too much for Huston.

Kaepernick "THE REAL DEAL"

Colin Kaepernick showed the world that he is the REAL DEAL Sunday night as he and the 49ers earned their 10th win of the season over Tom Brady and the Pats. The Pats had been steam rolling opponents in there last couple of games and much of the sports world expected that to be the case Sunday night against the 49ers. Talk had started that Tom Brady was poised for another Super bowl the way he had been playing. Well to keep it 100, all that talk was put to rest by Colin Kaepernick and the 49er at least for another week.

Colin Kaepernick is everything Alex Smith is not. Alex had been labeled a game manager, Kaepernick is a game changer. Kaepernick simply fits the 49ers offensive better than Smith ever has. With Kaepernick’ s ability to make the down field Pass and make explosive plays with his legs, I don’t see Alex Smith playing for the 49ers the rest of the season. With weapons like Crabtree, Vernon Davis and the newly acquired Randy Moss (Who scored a TD) plus Mario Manningham San Francisco has the weapons on the outside to be a prolific offense. In my opinion they now have the QB to make the offense run at its highest potential.

The numbers Kaepernick put up Sunday night were not eye popping 14 for 25 totaling 216 yards, 4 TDs and one INT. Certainly not MVP numbers but he allows head coach Jim Harbaugh use the entire play book to keep up with the high powered New England Offensive. You saw the 49ers in 3, 4, and 5 WR sets and making passes 25+ yards down the field. There is no way a NFL teams can prepare for the excellent ground game the 49ers have and this spread attack they are showing more and more. The 27 yard TD Pass to Michael Crabtree shows that Kaepernick has the big time arm to make all the throws and the killer instinct to put a team away. The score was 24-3 at the time and if Smith were in the game, the 49ers would have been attempting to sit on the lead and pound Gore. As we saw in the game 31 points wasn’t enough and they might have lost that game if not for the explosiveness and philosophy change that Kaepernick brings.

Kaepernick’s Legs also make him very dangerous. AT 6’5 230 he is a load to bring down, not to mention being able to run the 40 yard dash in 4.5 at that size. When plays break down on 3rd and 8 or more he has the ability to pick up the first down and keep drives alive. His scramble ability is one more aspect of the 49ers offense that teams have to prepare for.

The one issue I have with Kaepernick is the fact that he is not getting Vernon Davis involved in the offense. Come play-off time it is going to be very important for them to have chemistry and get a feel for each other. There are not many players in the NFL that can cover Davis. He will be a key part in their playoff success. Other than that I stand behind Colin Kaepernick 100% He is the REAL DEAL
